There’s no such thing as too much Love Actually.
I first saw this movie in Ireland exactly six years ago, during my semester abroad. At the time I hadn’t heard anything about it and didn’t know what to expect. My best friend and I had spent the day walking around Killarney, visiting a castle, shopping at a department store, eating stew for dinner, and drinking Guinness at a pub while a traditional Irish band played. LJ kept losing her gloves. We finally got to the movie theater for an 11pm showing… and little did we know what we were in for. I remember crying at the airport scenes, since by then we’d been away from our families for 3.5 months and were eagerly anticipating a tearful airport reunion. The movie blew me away and continues to do so every time I’ve watched it over the years (I even own a VHS copy). But no matter how many times I see it, I will always remember walking out of that theater in Ireland at 1am back in December of 2003… freezing cold and feeling so full of love and life. It was one of my favorite movie-going experiences ever.
awe, man.
